Costa Rican Monkeys

Costa Rica’s lush forests are home to an incredible variety of wildlife, and for many visitors, spotting monkeys in the wild is a highlight of their trip. These intelligent and agile creatures are a common sight in national parks and reserves, swinging through trees or calling from the canopy.

Costa Rica is home to four species of monkeys: the Mantled Howler Monkey, known for its deep, echoing calls; the White-faced Capuchin, a curious and smart (and often mischievous monkey); the agile and playful Squirrel Monkey, mostly found in the southern Pacific; and the Central American Spider Monkey, recognizable by its long limbs and powerful tail.

Each species plays an important role in the forest ecosystem, and watching them in their natural habitat is an unforgettable experience.
