Orange-collared Manakin

This is one of the great manakins of Costa Rica, with their bright orange popping back and forth in the dark forest on their lek. This is a species found in primary forest habitat in the Southern part of the country and it's easy to find these around the Osa Peninsula.

I took the photos of this male on the edge of the Corcovado National Park near Dos Brazos. Another great place to see these is at Los Cusingos, the home of the great Alexander Skutch.
